AJ claims beats Dillian Whyte in seventh round stoppage win at The O2

First serious test as a professional for Anthony Joshua who settled his bitter rivalry with ‘The Body Snather’ knocking Dillian Whyte out in the seventh round to win the British heavyweight title.

Watched by a packed O2 Arena (Millenium Dome) in Greenwich, 3 belts were on the line in this eagerly awaited test for both fighters (British, Commonwealth & WBC International Heavyweight Titles.

The two contenders met head-on in the centre of the ring and traded big-shots recklessly in front of an expectant crowd. Whyte wobbled from an early left from Joshua and remained very unsteady for much of the first round as his opponent punished him with punches.

Joshua tried to finish off Whyte in the opening three minutes but throws a punch after the bell.

An enraged Whyte kicked off throwing a couple of shots of his own, sparking an ugly melee between both teams on the canvas.

Dillian Whyte was fully pumped in the second landing a short left hand that left Joshua’s legs doing a little dance.

This was a great fight to watch in the middle rounds with both fighters exchanging punches at high tempo.

This pace caught up with the Brixton boxer first and AJ started to land some crunching shots.

In round seven he landed his trademark right hand and the writing was on the wall.

A short but savage uppercut finally dropped Whyte who stayed flat on his back as the fight was waved off by referee Howard Foster.
